Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

If my documents are in the "desktop" area, Open.office doesn't open when I click on them. It doesn't happen when the documents are in other folder, just in "desktop" folder.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Kindly provide the following information :
1) the errors/stack dumps(if any) while opennig the file.
2) does this happen only when you open files which are created/saved from Microsoft Office?
3) What is the version of the Java(JRE) in your system?
4) How are you running OpenOffice - via the command prompt or by clicking on the file?
5) What happens when you start OpenOffice and open the document by going along File > Open File > Choose File - does the problem persist?

This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find.

This look like bug #185311. Did this problem occur after upgrading openoffice.org? What happens if you remove the packages openoffice.org-gtk and openoffice.org-gnome?

Answering to the questions:

1) It doesn't show error messages
2) No, it happens when I'm opening documents either created/saved from Microsoft Office or created/saved from OpenOffice
3) When I go to applications > Internet , I can read "Sun Java 6 Web Start". Is that my version right?
4) I'm running OpenOffice by clicking on the file.
5) No, the problem doesn't persist when I open the documents by going along file > open file> choose file

* Some news: I've had this problem with open documents (odf) too.
** More news: I've observed that it doesn't happen just in the desktop area, but in some specific folders.
                       Ex: /home/leonardo/desktop/presentation.ppt(odp) > I can't open by clicking
                            /bighome/presentation.ppt(odp) > I can't open by clicking
                            /bighome/theater/presentation.ppt(odp) > I CAN open by clycking

I've used the same file (copying and pasting) in these examples.
                            "bighome" is a NTFS partition
All folders have the same permissions...

Thanks and sorry for my english...
