Things started working again when I reverted upstream commit 06ec9f1db2bb9dc304a4adcd0d0506203cf9e6b6

I'm not actually familiar enough with openldap sources to say whether bailing out if "serviced" is not set in any of the branches is the right thing to do or whether there is another bug, but maybe this can help you triage the bug further..
