Unless you did edit the jvm.cfg, you are not using icedtea-6-jre-cacao.

which version do you use? which browser (version) do you use?

this does work for me with the icedtea6-plugin in lucid. A dialog pops up asking
if the applet should be trusted, then an applet titled "Pålogging" opens.
