I have the same behaviour about javaws displaying a certificates page
and also same failure trying to start javaws on the above url.

my machine is
 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Jun 18 14:43:41 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
and Hardy 8.04.
