I have seen this bug with VMware tools in Ubuntu 9.04, 10.04; SuSE 11.2; FreeBSD; Windows XP, Vista, 7; Windows Server 2000, 2004, 2008; ReactOS. I did not test other OS, but I suppose the bug is there too. I can solve it by not starting open-vm-tools, and related modules. But this is something I'd rather deny: performance drops significantly especially if you are using virtual machines for testing!
