When installing Ubuntu on an iSCSI disk all is well but as soon as open-iscsi is updated the initiator is placed in the runlevels so it also stops at shutdown. As it is stopped while still reading from it this results in a crash.
This issue might be related to 597313 . In any case I think the package should not be added to the runlevels when booting from iscsi
