I have just updated (and rebooted just to be sure).
The menu entry: "System->Administration->NVIDIA X Server Settings" does not ask for a super-user pasword. So consequently it can't write to /etc/X11/xorg.conf. This will greatly confuse non-technical users and there is no sensible message to explain the problem either:
"Unable to create new X config backup file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup'."
