This bug is very much still present on Quantal.

Environment:
Quantal, at time of release.
nvidia-current driver package.
Quadro NVS 290/PCIe/SSE2
Guest session (no significant customizations)

Simply maximizing a gnome-terminal takes more than 2 full seconds.
