TraceyC, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test for this with the latest live environment (not installed as you noted this is an employer laptop) development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please ensure you click Yes to the window noting:
"Your display manager log files may help developers diagnose the bug, but may contain sensitive information such as your hostname. Do you want to include these logs in your bug report?"

or this will virtually eliminate the potential for this being addressed.
