Please reference bug 300476. That bug talks about font problems in some applications run through wine, and it gives an easy fix that can be applied to the registry. Please let us know whether this registry fix might correct your notepad issue.

BTW, if you're only using wine for notepad, I would think that you may want to reconsider your choice of tools. There are a multitude of text editors available in Linux that can do exactly the same thing as notepad. gedit, kedit, kate, vi, jed, emacs, mousepad, etc. The list is seemingly endless.

Yes, there are recognized font issues with wine, as noted in 300476, but if notepad is your only use for wine, you would be better served by removing wine, then by removing the only driver for your video card that provides OpenGL functionality.
