Please also:

* Check the 'Extensions' app to ensure you don't have any extensions other than the three Ubuntu extensions. Any others should be removed, then log in again.

* Next time the problem happens, wait 10 seconds, reboot and then run:

  journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

  and attach the resulting text file here.
