I got this error but it's the same thing: nvidia-331 331.89-0ubuntu3: nvidia-331 kernel module failed to build
update-initramfs: deferring update (hook will be called later)
Examining /etc/kernel/postinst.d.
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal 3.16.0-13-generic /boot/vmlinuz-3.16.0-13-generic
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/dkms 3.16.0-13-generic /boot/vmlinuz-3.16.0-13-generic
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.16.0-13-generic (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-331/331.89/build/make.log for more information.
However /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-331/331.89/build/make.log does not exist.

I have the following nvidia files installed and it does 2 DKMS updates to the kernel and the 2nd one does not get this error.
