However, I have to point out that pretty much everyone who is affected by this bug is running the 3.13 kernel that comes with Trusty; those who are running newer (non-LTS) kernels all have newer nvidia drivers (except the ones with legacy graphic cards, but that's a minority; nvidia's legacy support goes quite a way back...)
So, do you think it would be safe to test your ppa with the 3.13 kernel, or is that not expected to work?
