0. Using 'Software Updater' installed (3.13.0-39.66) updates, nvidia-331 error messages displayed midway during install.
I side stepped the expected upcoming 'unable to re-boot' scenario with the following treatment after the kernel install flagged errors.
1. Switch from the nvidia proprietary 331 driver to Nouveau video driver using the 'Additional Drivers' tool.
2. Restart, After reboot, the earlier nvidia-331 error was redetected leading to this report though I'm running Nouveau.

 I'll switch back to the nvidia-331 driver later in the day.
