same here - switch user and log out leads to blank screen.

one workaround i found is to use 2.6.31-20 kernel from 9.10

Whether I miss understand that post or its too complicated, but I can not see how that fixes the problem, we have had driver and kernel updates, this problem is still here! Please can we have an UPDATE that fixes it, thank you.

@royalbee: Bug 573557 concerns a bug when two or more nVidia cards. This bug happens with only one graphics card, but more than one user.

I solved this on my machine by,
Go to the System menu, then Administration and Hardware Drivers
Select the latest version (recommended) nvidia driver. (bottom option)
Let it download, select apply and restart.
This should install a later version eg 195, which seems to resolve the problem.
Hope this helps.
