Installed via standard AMD64 Karmic CD.

Normal mode => out of range.
Safe mode => 800x600

Opened Terminal:
sudo -i
apt-get install nvidia-glx-185
nvidia-xconfig
restart gdm

Running with 1920x1080 now.

So this is not critical as it can be worked around, OTOH it gives a bad first impression on rather common hardware.
