Bug Description

On a new installation of Ubuntu 9.04, usplash works correctly using the 'nv' driver, but after installing the nvidia 180.44 restricted driver, usplash crashes during shutdown. The shutdown animation plays until about 20% of the bar remains, then the video becomes corrupted as shown in the attached photo, and the system hangs.
If I boot with "nosplash", the shutdown functions without this error.

I've posted a new version of the -nvidia driver to our xorg-edgers PPA,
would you mind testing it either on Jaunty or Karmic and see if it
resolves this bug?
