Thanks for the link, I fixed the problem myself by altering xorg.conf. Just in case someone does not know where to find it, its in /etc/X11/
Add the following lines to the "Device" section:
Option "UseEdidDpi" "false" Option "DPI" "96 x 96"
Save the file, then restart the X server by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Backspace.
