get to /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/ and start removing any directory which starts with a number e.g. 173.14.09, 177.67, 177.68 but not kernel-2.6.27-2-generic-i686.

then type:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall nvidia-177-kernel-source

and attach the output
