I have the same problem - Drive installed but not activated. I have a Dell XPS L501X with the nVidia GeForce GT 435M.
* glxgears post over 4,500 fps but on the screen they don't move at all (they, _can't_ be going that fast, can they?).
* NVIDIA X Server Settings info:
* driver 270.41.06
* GLX Information: Direct Rendering - yes, Version 1.4
* OpenGL Information: Version 4.1.0 NVIDIA 270.41.06
I can run both Unity and "Classic" but I have no 3D effects at all. The "plain old" Alt-Tab gives very poor resolution of the running apps.
The video card, via gkrellm, seems to indicate that the GPU is running about 10C higher under 11.04 versus 10.10.
