Same problem here. The nvidia driver is activated but not in use. Unity works and so does Compiz, but some effects are slower than before (10.10).

Ubuntu sometimes freezes when using Boxee (that didn't happen before) and I see some glitches in Flash videos with Firefox or with Chromium.

Glxgears also moves very slow, but it gives me around 2000fps, so something happens.

Yesterday I tried to install the official nvidia package (NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-270.41.19.run) but after stopping GDM the nvidia script failed ("The distribution-provided pre-install script failed!").

Running lshw -c video I obtain the following:

so it seems that I'm not running the correct driver.

With these driver I was able to play Armagetron and Dark Places Quake, so it's not too bad for me.

Any ideas are welcome.
