Not sure whether a proper solution has been posted, but I figure I add my situation into the mix.

Confirmed Bug!

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS

Operating System: Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit

Additional Details: As the bug thread mentions, Unity and video games are running, but the Additional Drivers dialog says "Nvidia Driver activated, but not in use".
