May be: Installing Xubuntu I used the home-partition of ubuntu. Before I deleted most of the files and directories meaning that they are relevant for the unity desktop.

Now I will do it again and leave only those applications, which have nothing to do with the system. E.g. Firefox and Thunderbird profiles.
