Binary package hint: ntop
ntop crashes after recieving an DHCP-request message.
After issuing an "ipconfig /renew" command on a Windows XP Client, ntop dies immedeately on Ubuntu 10.04 with error log:

Please update ntop to latest version 3.3.10 or better 3.4pre3
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04
Package: ntop 3:3.3-13
ProcVersionSign
Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-server x86_64
NonfreeKernelMo
Architecture: amd64
Date: Mon May 31 21:17:37 2010
ProcEnviron:
LANG=de_DE.utf8
SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: ntop
Workaround: install the 3.4 version from
apt-add repository ppa:sylvain-garcia
then modify /etc/init.d/ntop
Line 96 add the flag -b *(this is the same as --disable-decoders)
(I started with line 95 to display the full modified command)
start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --name $NAME --exec $DAEMON -- \
-d -b -L -u $USER -P $HOMEDIR \
then restart ntop
sudo service ntop restart
it would be nice if the package maintainer would add the -b flag to the package. Or expain to me how to do it and I'll do it myself.
