This is a year old and still hasn't been fixed.
Another workaround is to paste in this command:
sudo mkdir -p /etc/hal/fdi/policy
The problem is that when it crashes now in Natty, there is no error message unless you launch the application from the terminal... it simply asks for your password and then disappears.
