Can't believe they'd ignore the community so much. Very poor process not to ignore what users are clearly requesting, as a) it'll anger them, and b) they'll go elsewhere eventually when someone offers what they want.
In all honesty, I actually use Linux Mint now (have done for a while). May be worth asking there if the patch could be applied, and point them to this thread.
