Bug Description

<https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NotifyOSD#Volume%20changes> and <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NotifyOSD#Brightness%20and%20backlight%20changes> both say: "To make clearer which key was pressed, if the bubble was not already open, the gauge should show the old value for half a second before switching to the new value."

I don't know if the old value is currently being showed for half a second or not. It's just that it does not last enough for me to notice it (maybe the time is counted from the moment the bubble starts to fade in or maybe I'm too slow for a 0.5" change). If I'm on the alert for it I can see it changing, but most of the time I find myself pressing the key twice just to ensure it's changing.

I know it's very difficult to balance this feature with the perceived responsiveness of the system so I don't expect this to be changed, but I just want to let you know about it.

I can imagine lots of people misinterpreting this as a "lag of responsiveness" in the systems feedback. But we'll see what others have to say about it. This is a wishlist-item for sure.

Mirco, I think the bubble itself appearing immediately should make it obvious enough that the system is responsive. If it turns out not to be, then we can consider animating the transition from old to new value, instead of just flipping them after half a second.
