I'm not sure what you mean by "other distributions" - Ubuntu 8.04 is the only version of Ubuntu that should be affected by this issue since it's the only version which includes a Linux kernel 2.6.23 or later, and the Ubuntu developers aren't responsible for fixes to other Linux distributions?

The bug is on track to be fixed in an update to Ubuntu 8.04.
