I have similar problem.
I have ACER Aspire 3680-2682 laptop with Atheros 5007EG Wi-Fi adapter.
After short time of work it disconnects from W-Fi network.
What is worst, it does not connect back automatically.
In 9.04 and 9.10 after disconnect, it starts connecting automatically.
In alpha and beta versions on 10.04 there was no such problem with disconnections.
But after installing 10.04 release I have notised that after disconnection the Network Manager does not start connecting again.
I am not sure, whether the problem is with Atheros drivers in kernel or it is the Network Manager issue.
But it really affects me.
I am thinking on switching back to 9.10
