Oh I see. But disabling network-manager as a whole is not an option for me. I need its WLAN roaming and VPN capabilities.

Thanks for confirming, that this bug seems to be in network-manager. I agree with that and reported it upstream: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=677053
