@ hackel: 30-60 seconds is more like an average time. I have had instances when I had to wait a few minutes
(despite using "iwlist scan" immediately on resuming from suspend or restarting network manager and networking daemons).
@ Mat: I agree this may not be a design issue, but as Hackel pointed out, it is a usability issue and meets all other conditions of 100 paper cuts.
