Taking router off WPA encryption did nothing for the problem, but that is all I have messed on the eee with Jaunty, so thought i'd give it a shot.
Installed WICD and that is working as it should on suspend with wireless. Takes a little bit to get used to the change, but does work- the suspend back to reconnect is a big one for me, as I am always jumping on and off that computer, but def need it to go to suspend.
