Stopping avahi-daemon doesn't solve the issue for me.
Connecting to a FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 (mode 'WPA+WPA2') keeps asking for authentication and does not result in a connection.
From same machine connecting to a Linksys WRT54GC (WPA2 Mixed mode) makes a connection that is working for a little while, but it disconnects and reconnects every few minutes.
