it looks like a kernel problem to me. i only say that because if i boot up the 2.6.24-3-generic kernel, from an early alpha, wireless with network manager works perfectly with the ipw3945 driver and the iwl3945 driver. Compared with the 2.6.24-12-generic kernel. Also i have tried connecting to my AP from the cmd line with both kernels and only 2.6.24-3-generic will connect.
