I am having this problem now as well. A while back I used a script to restart network manager service after resume and this fixed all issues. Yesterday I tried to see if this issue has been fixed or not. After disabling the service with systemd I tested it with a two hour or so suspend. After waking up the computer was still connected to the AP and I was able to browse the web but the network manager icon was the Ethernet one and it didn't list any APs nearby to connect to. I disconnected manually and was unable to connect to an AP since none were listed. I re-enabled the script with systemd and all is working again. So from my end it seems the connection is still going but network manager UI is not working like it should.
