So I was updating a few packages, and logged out of the unity environment, when I logged back in I could not recieve any data through midori, or curl from the internet. So i disabled and then reenabled the wireless networking, and the situation was remedied.

Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS

I suspect this is a problem with the network manager, but I really have no idea
