The ThinkPad X60 has a wireless kill switch on the front, and using it to stop and start wireless seems to help on open networks.
After recent upgrades (now running 0.6.5-0ubuntu7) I've lost access to my WPA-protected AP, even from a vanilla Tribe 3 installation. It can connect (after a few tries), but then I get the messages
nm_policy_ device_ change_ check:: old_dev has_link? 1
SWITCH: terminating current connection 'eth1' because it's no longer valid.
nm_device_ is_802_ 3_ethernet: assertion `dev != NULL' failed
nm_device_ is_802_ 11_wireless: assertion `dev != NULL' failed
and it shuts down.
I'm also getting
nm_policy_ device_ change_ check:: old_dev has_link? 1
nm_policy_ device_ change_ check:: old_dev && new_dev!!
in the log every 130 seconds throughout the day.
