solved the problem for me on ubuntu 16.04.
Btw, I only ran into this problem in ubuntu , in kubuntu 14.04 it was no problem. Tthe settings in
kubuntu 14.04: /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf are
#dns=dnsmas

as drm200 #20 suggested.
