The deb file you posted does indeed fix the problem.
I no longer have asus-nb-wmi blacklisted, and after installing the fix you created, I was able to reboot and consume wi-fi automatically.
I bet it is too late to get this fix into the Ubuntu 13.04 Live Disc (which will be release later today)?
There is no telling how many additional computer models would benefit from your fix and be able to live boot with wi-fi enabled.
