This same problem recently began happening to me on an Aspire One D270 running Ubuntu 12.04. The wireless was working fine, and then I ran a software update, and now wireless is completely hosed. (Another reason why I rarely run software updates...they tend to break more things then they fix).
I also get messages in my /var/log/syslog about DHCPv4 timeout. This makes no sense, because I have a Macbook running Ubuntu 12.04 that works just fine with the wireless router the Aspire is unable to connect to.
