The issue is resolved for me.
Our server was not pushing domain options. Change on server side was to add following lines to the '/etc/openvpn/server/server.conf':

push "dhcp-option DOMAIN some-domain.net"
push "dhcp-option DOMAIN some-other-domain.com"
