Bug Description

Upon upgrading network-manager via synaptic or the GNOME update manager, the keyboard (PS/2) stops responding and no more applications will open. Mouse (USB) is still functioning. Ubuntu is version 7.10 Tribe 3 after a couple of successful updates (via cabled ethernet). Wireless network device uses zd1211rw module. Uname and dmesg follows:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Mmm, curious, I've just upgraded an old laptop (pentium III) from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 (LTS), and I've experienced the same problem (or very very similar). And I was using the same network driver, I think (I was upgrading usiing a usb-wifi antenna which also uses this zydas driver.

On the contrary, as far as I remember, I upgraded another (newer) laptop months ago from 8.04 to 8.10, using the same usb-wifi antenna, and it went smooth.

However, since 8.04 is the Long Term support, I would imagine that it would interesting to fix network manager in 8.04 if there is a bug somewhere....

If you want me to provide any file from this recently upgraded system, please tell me clear instructions on what to send, since I'm not that advanced gnu/linux user.

And thanks for helping to have this nice distro and apps. uptodate.

Cheers
