This is still a problem for me in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

The workaround above worked for me:
1) add the wireless network using another protocol (LEAP)
the connection will fail
2) now go back and edit the connection, this uses a different dialog which correctly gets focus
3) make sure you click "Don't remind me again"
