Yes, feel free to create a SRU for this, updating the bug description according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#SRU_Bug_Template (adding test-case/impact/description).

We have systemd SRUs in progress right now, but those are already released to -proposed. So we can only stage this into git and have it released with the next SRU upload.

Please create git Merge Proposals on Launchpad against those branches, instead of creating a debdiff (and link them to this bug):
