Works with ndiswrapper 1.40 and kernel version 2.6.20-13.21 (latest at the moment), BUT takes about an extra minute to load. See output from dmesg:

I don't what the system is trying to do for all that time but it resumes the bootup and finishes.
I don't know if this is related but on console 8 (Fn+Ctrl+Alt+8) I can see the following:
