Thanks for your bug. What version if nautilus/ubuntu do you use? Could you get a backtrace of the hang?
- gnome-session-remove nautilus
- gdb nautilus
(gdb) run
... hang
(gdb) thread apply all bt

Is your connection to the ftp slow?
