I can confirm that I am experiencing this issue now with my Ubuntu Hirsute installation in VirtualBox.
I just ran all package updates it after not using this VM for a while.
After this I noticed it, because I wanted to do root access actions using GNOME Nautilus.

Not so long ago I had this same issue under XFCE on Arch Linux too, but that one got eventually fixed by updates, most likely including GVFS or something related.
