Doug, nautilus 3.23.90 with the typeahead patch disabled is in the GNOME3 Staging PPA for zesty.
To try nautilus with tracker, make sure 'tracker' and 'tracker-miner-fs' are installed.
Then you can try to run these comamnds:
pkill nautilus
XDG_CURRENT_
