Same problem here with two different USB 2.0 harddisks on a Acer Travelmate running Feisty. They unmount (data are written according to message pop-up window) and remount immediately afterwards, displaying the error message: cannot eject. Sudo umount works. USB sticks are unmounted without any problem by user.
