Mr. Kottler: I genuinely thank you for handling this seemingly simple situation with the appropriate amount of care.

Allowing Nagios Ent to use the current package name will almost certainly cause issues in regards to compatibility down the road, the difference being if their in-house update causes issues with another platform; they actually kinda have incentive not to make it a priority. AND, rightly so, assuming users choose to install their package and aren't forced into it with a thoughtless upgrade.

Not everyone out there pays attention to packages at this level, and since the current site is a direct copy of the original, researching it is met with deception and bickering.

The only responsible thing to do is create new packages, as Sam has already suggested. I personally don't think either party should have a say in that decision. The only remaining decision they should have is to the new packages.
